A lifelong maker, Leslie grew-up in Texas, Louisiana and Virginia, always visiting Mississippi during holidays, where her parents have deep roots. She fell in love with art through visits to the National Gallery of Art during high school, when she lived in the Washington DC area, and also during a week-long college art history class in Paris, while 18 and working as an au pair overseas.
A Mississippi State University alum, Leslie has lived in Mississippi since college days. Before marriage and kids, she taught high school French. While her children were young, she began taking art lessons from local artists. Leslie took workshops with world-class artists through the Pastel Society of Mississippi, and took a few art classes at a local community college as well. During covid she enjoyed Saturday morning oil-painting lessons with Sarah Thibodeaux of New Orleans, over zoom.
After raising a family, Leslie taught middle school art. Now retired from teaching, she enjoys painting and homemaking full-time. Inspired by nature and its seasonal rhythms, Leslie enjoys experimenting with different mediums and techniques in her art. Expressive color and line, simple shapes and playfulness are characteristic of her work. As a Christian, art for Leslie is a wonderful gift from God, through which she can better explore and appreciate His world and worship Him.
Leslie is a member of the Mississippi Artist Guild.
